Holiday Cheer 2020
It’s going to be different this year!
We are all in the midst of the grip of a pandemic that has turned our world upside down! There is no joy at all in looking at the number of cases or deaths that have happened so far in 2020.
So how do we switch our mindset and choose to feel holiday cheer when we feel guilty for doing so?
We can look back in time to Christmas seasons of old like when the early pioneers had little to work with but still made an effort, or during the Depression when money was in short supply or during WWII during rationing and yet, they still had the holidays to get through.
I believe they changed their mindset from the way it always was before, to the reality of the way it needs to be now and then they got on with whatever they could manage. It was less and it was different – but it was created with love and grit.
Most of the gifts were handmade with whatever was available. Couldn’t we do the same this year when the challenge is so great?
Or can we gift ourselves, to reach out (safely) to help others with a gift of time, talent or money? Charities and food banks are needing help so that they can help others.
Can we take a minute and look up from our own circumstances to see what someone else’s challenges are? Can we take a minute to care?
My holiday wish is almost always the same – for Peace, Love and Joy, both in our hearts and in our world.
