Meet Lorrie

Hello… Thank you for stopping by to see what Yarns Made Real is all about.

I am a solopreneur (at the moment) who has chosen to create an independent, small-batch yarn-dyeing business.

As a sock knitter, I was always looking for yarns that would be perfect for the birthday and Christmas gifts I was knitting. After searching and buying a variety of hand-dyed yarns, I wondered if this was something I could do myself. Many YouTube videos showed tutorials and examples of other dyers who were experimenting with yarn bases and colorways to make unique and lovely yarns for all kinds of projects. I decided I would give it a go myself.

I have a big creativity streak that runs through just about everything I do or make. It’s part of my DNA. I had a mother and two grandmothers who were all very crafty and creative and I guess it wore off on me.

I’ve been enjoying developing my website and online shop and the various products (besides yarn) that I’ll be offering. In addition to being a knitter, I also sew, quilt, garden and enjoy making homemade breads.

In fact, I have a small bread route where I deliver fresh bread in the neighborhood from the baskets on my bicycle. When we had a summer cottage, I had a bread stand out front and sold bread every weekend of the summer.

As you thumb through this website you will see that I have finally combined all of my interests — yarns, plant-based dyes and flower-bundled scarves, books that I’ve written, and more!

As a certified Martha Beck Life Coach since 2012, I am also offering life coaching for folks who just might want to open their own businesses or get around to writing that book. I specialize in empowering clients to create the life they have always imagined and then take action steps to achieve it.
